Why Is the YMCA So Expensive
YMCA or Young Men’s Christian Association dates back to the eighteenth century when it was first formed in Geneva. Since then local YMCA circle has grown radically as a worldwide movement started on promoting the YMCA. There are different facilities being provided in the YMCA including skill classes, athletics facilities, and other humanitarian work.
While there are so many things being provided by the YMCA, there are a lot of questions being raised on why is the YMCA so expensive? People are now finding it difficult to get hold of memberships of YMCA as only one single activity can cost around hundreds of dollars per month. Thus questions are being raised whether the YMCA is now being over priced or not or whether there are some other alternative options available to the people in place of YMCA where they can go and do these recreational activities.
But one major thing that people often forget is that YMCA is a non-profit organization hence all the membership fees or daily pass fee that is earned is used to utilize the daily expenses in order to keep the facility running. The YMCA can apply for some government charity or grants but one cannot be sure whether these grants or charity will be approved by the government or not. Hence the revenue earned from membership is the only source of revenue.
This is why if the operating costs of the YMCA increases than the membership or pass fee will also increase. These membership or pass fee is being used to pay for the maintenance of YMCA as well as the payment of employees working there is also from this. Hence YMCA may not be expensive but the cost required to run YMCA has increased and for that purpose, the revenue stream also has to increase.
